Golden beach (Skala Panagias) is a well organized vacation spot located around a 3km long, beach. The underwater site is a 1st priority site in the European program, NATURA 2000 because of its Poseidonia fields. The beach zone has dunes of sand, with rich biodiversity. The ecosystem is completed by the semi-swampy fields, where, during spring, blooms the endangered species of wild flowers, Lefkosio. The Ipsario mountain, is a nature reserve for lots of protected species of wild birds, some of which are completely endemic here on the island.
In Golden Beach, you can hire a boat to do different sea sports. You can also go on a small cruise with the ship Zeus, which goes for small cruises every day from the area’s fishing dock. There are also rents to rent a car or a motorcycle. At the traditional restaurants, the visitor will find a huge variety of fish and other sea creatures, as well as other local viands.
